Improve Beekeeping
Through Careful Queen Selection and Monitoring
Robert Mackimmie is the founder of City Bees in San Francisco and has been beekeeping in the city for almost 30 years. He will be joining us at our May general meeting to discuss the problems with Varroa Mites, Varroa sensitive hygienic bees, and treating for Varroa. He produces VSH queen daughters from select VSH breeder queens, runs a collection of VSH queens from specialized breeders around the country to provide VSH genetics in the sky and uses an island apiary to maintain genetic integrity when open mating daughters from VSH Breeder Queens.
Robert attends The Ferry Plaza and Clement Street Farmers Markets and is currently the Education Director for the Marin Beekeepers organization.
