SCBA December General Meeting
Date: Monday, December 12, 2022
Time: 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Location: Zoom
Tom Seeley will be joining us at our December meeting to talk to us about his research with honeybees. Tom Seeley will be talking to us about the Behavioral Wonders of Honey Bees. How does a honey bee colony work together to accomplish such things as find and occupy a snug nest cavity, furnish it with beeswax combs, fill these combs with brood and food, and keep everyone well nourished, comfortably warm, and safe from intruders? In this talk Tom will present six "short stories" of how a behavioral mystery was solved. We will look at things such as how worker bees prevent colony asphyxiation, size up a potential home site, spread the queen's chemical signal of her presence, and wake up sleepy-head foragers in the morning.
